Dunno what, if any, his business interests are up there but if he's worried about conflicts of interest between his job in planning and his job as a constituency mhk there is no conflict at all, he simply has to take the side of the majority of his constituents. Isn't this the whole point of his existence, to represent their views and to take decisions on their behalf?

"At times the multiple roles we play as MHK's causes complications! The most important aspect is representing our constituents, so yesterday I formally recused myself from my Planning Committee role in respect of the proposed Glen Truan development in Bride. This will prevent conflicts of interest arising and help ensure transparency around whatever decisions are made on this application.

Well, by making that statement he's clear on where his interests lie. It's the correct line to take, IMESHO.

This Island is losing potential visitors because of a total lack of understanding of caravans and motorhomes.

Caravans are towed to sites and parked, whilst the occupants drive around in their towing vehicle spending money as they do so, similarly motorhomes mainly once parked up and connected to the services are left in place whilst the owners use various means of transport to explore the Island spending money as they do so.

Peel campsite costs £25-00 per night for a motorhome. which going by other caravan club sites is very dear ! there is no clubhouse as most sites have in UK, no wonder that apart from special events like TT it is mostly empty.

Every time someone has attempted to open up this type of establishment they have been thwarted.

This market is one of the fastest growing forms of tourism in the UK, Why not here ?

Let the man spend his money and provide what is sadly lacking.

what you have to factor in mannin1 is that the usual groaners will complain that an influx of caravans/campers are going to slow them down on the roads thereby making them minutes late any appointment/work.

It's all shit. We can't have progress in Bride. It's better keeping it empty so that people can go about their lives untainted by the 20th Century.

Fixed......

Although, to be fair, we did taint it with the Island's 20th century refuse for 10+ years.

Try looking at the definition of development under the town and country planning act, it does not just cover buildings. The term development in this sense does not automatically mean a housing estate.

its the same as mount murray.....
