The full PAC Report is here:

https://www.tynwald.org.im/business/pp/Reports/2021-PP-0170.pdf

though the actual report rather than the evidence only makes up the first 60 pages of the 600 or so- the rest if evidence.  On a very quick skim the main conclusion is that the DfE mainly exists to give money to mates and has no clear strategy for anything.

(By the way Me and Orson Wells cost the Manx taxpayer well over £9 million).

Ahhhhh but think of the VAT receipts ..............  FFS said the supporters of pissing away public money!!

It will say, 'lessons will be learned moving forwards because of commercial confidentiality'!!, maybe.

But also that none of it was actually taxpayer's money either...

What effing VAT receipts? We all knew this was a flight of fancy for a very, very few number of people within and without the 'film industry'. Those within swanning around with the great and good from the film elite and those without taking the piss on other folks money.

Interesting points in the Indy's coverage of this release.

The film industry became considerably less lucrative after 2007 changes to the relevant VAT rules. Yet in 2012 Eddie Teare was still quoting pre-2007 figures in order to justify "assertions of financial sustainability". Which there wasn't.

Meaning that Eddie Teare was misleading the Tynwald Court.

In the article in the paper there is not a single mention of Steve Christian.

Well he died in February 2017 aged 53 and stepped back from running MDF in 2015 so couldn’t be interviewed . However surprised everyone didn’t just blame him as he couldn’t defend himself !

anyone know if our much vaunted film and tv department have had any location scouts over, amazon shifting their filming away from NZ they've got to be looking for locations that haven't been used for GOT or other fantasy series.

might be a way to recoup a couple of quid, but then that would mean them actually doing some work instead of fecking off to some film festival somewhere to hand out a couple of flyers.

Steve Christian wasn't to blame for this, though he probably did pretty well out of it. Nor was Eddie Teare the main driver, despite blatantly misleading Tynwald (IMHO) with out of date figures to support the charade.

This has all the hallmarks of another man....

What was reckless about it?  There was a MDF that invested in media development.  It lost 16m (before taking into account any indirect benefit outside the MDF).  Which bit was reckless?

Oh look......
