Just off on a slight tangent but looking at the mess along the prom following the weekend weather, couldn't help but think a lot of the debris could be avoided quite easily

say for instance, by putting a seawall up instead of railings? who'd guess?!

Looking at lots of shredded sandbags along the Prom, then looking at the work going on to clear the masses of sand...... There is more than enough sand to fill lots more sandbags... But do it soon, before Storm Dennis comes rolling in.

There were loads of big stones, too. Anyone want to build a rock garden?

Of course that would help. What would be the cheaper option for the interim would be to run a bulldozer down the entire length of the prom from opposite the Villa to the Queens hotel. Put a two foot gap between the beach and the walkway. Won't stop the water but will reduce the number of rocks all over the prom.

Could probably be done for a fraction of the cost of bulldozing seaweed back into the sea every day too...

I agree run a bulldozer the length of the prom and start again would be a good idea !

Amongst those clearing up yesterday there was a digger on the beach that managed to build a nice “ramp” so the sand & stone on the beach now gently slopes up to be level with the walkway

It now appears the existing gas main has been damaged/cocked up leading to their latest dig site being abandoned.

If any visitor asks what's going on along the Prom this summer, I'm just telling them Tony Robinson and the Time Team are in town.

The most incredible thing about the Promenade is that the obvious and complete clusterfuck that is going on there is still being presented as a Scheme. The only people they are fooling are the people that are happy to be fooled and sit in Tynwald.

it is going to look nothing like the pretty drawings they had down the sea terminal all those years ago,  i bet you can't find those anymore.
