Disabled facilities

Looks OK to me. A friend in England used to have his own rating system for pub toilets. A 5-star was: outside, no roof, no porcelain - just a plain black wall. You can't find then these days.

Oh I don't know,.............most places I pass, when I walk home from the pub have a wall and no roof or porcelain..............................

I was recently surprised to find a male urinal with no roof. It is in Laxey. I don't know about the ladies urinal - I didn't check because I've heard that that kind of exploratory activity is a bit risky in that parish. And with reference to the Newson's  thread, the lack of a roof is to preserve the historic accuracy of the building.

Maybe the basis of another specialist tour group?

Why would I go into a gents?  Or is it the point that it was just labelled as a disabled facility?

I was in the gents of a busy pub/club one night when a girl came in hitched up her skirt and pissed in the urinal next to me citing "fucked if I'm waiting in that queue" and was totally at ease doing so!

At last, a good reason to wear really high stilettos.

A slightly similar thing happened to me in a restaurant in Asia. A really attractive girl walked into the toilets behind me lifted her skirt and got her cock out and pissed into the urinal. Couldn’t stop laughing.

It was being refurbished. The cubicle door and side panel were removed. You can see one of the brackets on the wall between the pan and urinal. New ones are now in place.

However it’s quite usual to find the accessible loo inaccessible, or functionally unusable because it’s being used as a store.

I just thought it was amusing.

Anyway, the facility was, temporarily, disabled.

This is a disabled toilet as apposed to a toilet for the disabled!

I suppose the outside lift is there for show then.

My last visit was probably 15 years ago. It’s not mentioned on the Town Hall website, in fact there’s no accessibility statement which is an equality/disability breach.

It doesn’t show up on any of the sites like disability networks or accessable

It seems that public toilets are in the firing line, in the squabbles between local parish pump authorities and The Chris Thomas Department of Incompetence.

The NPM report that Castletown Commissioners wish to keep the public toilets open. The island is facing terrible problems affecting everyday life, and yet our government departments and other bodies can’t do joined up working. It’s sad really, and to expect people to use cafe/restaurant facilities is unrealistic, as in this economic climate some can’t afford to remain open.

Mind you the Gents toilets at the Sea Terminal cubicles have a door missing, and a light missing from the ceiling with a hole - a really good impression and shop window advertisement of the island.

It seems they can’t organise a piss up in a toilet!
