Or will IOMG cheerleaders [...] who will no doubt be there to praise our political elite? If it's anything like the Government Conferences, there will no doubt be lots of introductory waffle at the beginning and then carefully selected questions via a 'helpful' chair (usually James Davis) who will then let every member of the panel 'have their say', whether relevant to them or not . As every CoMin member is supposed to be there, that will be nine people. So the opportunity for members of the public to get a word in will be extremely limited. Of course each of these Ministers will require their own entourage of civil servants, so a lot of the audience will be taken up with senior staff to make sure they behave, plus numerous more junior staff (usually in black polo shirts to reassure us that it's all informal) running around organising various things. The purpose of these meetings isn't really to find out what the public wants. Like a lot of IOM Government activity, it's all about reassuring the politicians that they are in control and terribly important and connected to the voters. In reality the last of these oughtn't be necessary. Isle of Man constituencies are tiny - about the size of a Council Ward in the UK (which are represented by a few people on a few thousand K expenses, not £76K salary). So MHKs should have no excuse for not hearing from their voters, just in the normal course of everyday life. The fact they put on these exercises to do that, suggests they are either trying to avoid those outside the magic circle or that they're not listening 3

Roger Mexico
Reminder of the dates, times and places: Despite the registration button, you can just turn up: Doors will open at 5:30pm and attendees will have the opportunity to meet with ministers throughout the evening. You can register using the link on this page, or just turn up and drop in at any point during the evening. The venue is accessible, with car parking available on-site. The idea is that you are supposed to turn up and chat informally with the Ministers and there will be a 45-minute Q&A at some point in the two hours. Tea/coffee and biscuits on arrival. Moghrey Mie
Most people don't realise that the government has a plan. I suppose that will come as a surprise to the ministers who live in a bubble.

Oh, I think that most have twigged that there is a plan by now. It's called emptying their pockets in a short termist effort to shore up debts from past fuck ups, ongoing fuck ups and Govt largesse to itself whilst doing next to nothing to alleviate the causes for the future.
