  1. Word on the grapevine locally is that the Super Beach Cleaner is now parked up and rusting with the tractor by the old depot, as it (Or the bin wagons) wont fit in the new Depot up at Breagle and DEFA have pulled PEC up for disposing of the waste off the beach illegally. Excellent value for money. The works foreman wont communicate with the Clerk in person but the Chairman (from Foxdale) has just been on Manx Radio headline telling everyone what a wonderful job they are doing !
  2. Mr Maule is a rare man. He was "Head of Buses" before Longworth come along, they are from a fairly similar mould.
  3. The Balaclavas in this context are a massive overkill and wont to much for community support. Hardly a terrorism or OCG retribution threat is he and in the Isle of Man most people know who the armed boys are anyway.
  4. You are talking about any town or village on the Island, Port St Mary was much the same business wise and has on street parking all the way through. Castletown shopping streets have been pedestrianised for decades, it's not exactly a new concept. If any organisation is responsible for destroying the independent retail network over the years, its Shoprite.
  5. I had a look at the Bushys application, as you say, every objection thus far is from someone who was knowingly bought a workers cottage in the centre of the only remaining industrial section of the town. Fancy that. Edited to add, I forgot about the excellent objection from the children's nursery, that can't see the irony that they set up in the middle of a busy garage and then complain about traffic.
  6. £470 return and all you get is a lousy celebration cupcake.
  7. The same people that cry foul about parking in the Isle of Man are the same people that seem to be more than capable for carrying a dozen Primark Bags back from Liverpool on foot. At the end of the day if you want the product, you make an effort to get it. You can't expect people to keep running businesses if they don't think that the return warrants their input. I know of one local hospitality provider that is regularly considering if they should go back on the tools in Dandaraland for a regular income. Almost certainly not the last businesses to call it a day before the year end.
  8. She seems to have money to spend it the Courts taking injections out against people if you look at the listings, unless the tax payer is also picking that up.
  9. See its all change at the Colby Glen, Kurries and Steaks taking it on. Good for the South.
  10. It reflects badly on Cannan. So few options he's recycling Ministers. Wonder when the vote of no confidence will be tabled.
  11. There is a rumour doing the rounds within the DOI that a certain retired director of Transport was involved in another tram incident during the recent event, where he moved off before being told to by a conductor (who was another senior employee of DOI), and the conductor fell off the back and broke his ankle. Further alleged that injured party was not wearing appropriate ppe and is now in hot water.
  12. Probably downed tools for Mr Cowins retirement presentation.
  13. It does seem bizarre that he wants to put a surcharge on commercial ratepayers to develop more commercial units for the authority to let out.
  14. Are you @Josem in disguise ? Im not sure any building owner would want the added cost of owning a registered building.
  15. He will have to ask KLB or Mr Robertshaw for permission first.
