  1. Aside from what The Bastard says, which makes some sense, how much of the problem with the beach these days is as a consequence of the Breakwater? All those old pics make it seem fine for seaweed (leaving aside the raw sewage). Has it changed the tidal flows and natural scouring?
  2. They’ve probably shelled out a million funding legal fees of which they might get half back. They want payback by dictating terms of the inquiry and keeping the public momentum going to that end. No way they’ll fund anything more themselves.
  3. Bollocks was it dead. I was there. Every eatery and pub had people outside and loads just strolling. What should it be? Another load of diagonal parking?
  4. Back on to WV, it seems the obvious answer to most of the noise makers is a big free public car park, with fuck all else. The idea is different but it’s not like they’re trying it miles from the town centre, shops, bus routes and major places of employment. People kind of know what they’re signing up to and that car parking will be at a premium, as ever it was round there.
  5. In the same way a brewery doesn’t necessarily have to be run by the brewer, the medics didn’t have the final say. And wasn’t Dr Ewart a medic?
  6. Covid response was not an issue to be determined solely by medics, albeit that with no reserve capacity im sure the consultants voices came through strongly to influence political decision making. The politicians should get clear but balanced advice of the pros and cons of different courses but it was not just a medical issue. Where our imports into public health went wrong was in blithely following PHE and PHE alone, whose own ability to assess and manage a pandemic was seriously lacking and where IoM did possess different tools ie Government control of a limited number of ports. That’s not to say that shutting the borders earlier would have been the only possible right decision, given the need to organize and a legitimate element of wait and see before proclaiming the emergency. It was an option but you could have ended up with 1000s rather than hundreds left in limbo outside the island.
  7. I thought everyone knew his organ grinder was Chris Kelly and/or anyone else bankrolling MTA.
  8. They’ve got shit / no powers, very limited resource and are seen as bad for business by politicians. Should be amalgamated with CURA.

1990s or not, I’m right. If you can stop missing the point and want to educate yourself, have a look at the link below. Don’t worry your wee head about the words. Just go to the picture of the house… https://www.gov.im/categories/planning-and-building-control/information-for-applicants/levels-of-development-which-can-be-done-without-planning-approval/

You’re talking shite as most of the trivial stuff you spew about is within permitted development.

    Firm closing

Wasn’t he cry arsing about not getting a drone gig with the Police as well?
  13. When did he pay? It was in Court this morning.
  14. Maybe they’d be good in TT?
  15. Did Moulton do the interview for Energy? Either way I bet he’s gutted he couldn’t go to Peel tonight as he’ll be too busy on a mutual wank off with Robertshaw reviewing the days happenings at the Tribunal. Cheetham who was on the Energy FM interview GB News picked up is a piece of work and probably some crusading Old Testament element to his sense of right and wrong.
  16. It was stupid to be up there but all the complaints must have at least a part of not expecting the unexpected or driving off the rear lights of the car in front or having a stopping distance further than seeing distance.
  17. It’s always had a premium compared to other top job posts since Summerland. Whether that’s right or wrong can be debated.
  18. Phil Gawne gave a really good answer to an obviously mental question from Mad Dog Houghton a few years back. Something about next time he’ll make sure all the gritters are deployed to Willaston so the residents could drive round the estate (and nowhere else) rather than anyone else use the main roads.
  19. I thought Tracey Bell’s was 2m turnover, rather than earnings.
  20. It’s a really difficult situation for the social workers, police, fire etc in cases where people have capacity (in the legal sense) to make bad decisions.
  21. Early call on kids/schools is right. Imagine the chaos if the call wasn’t made until after the snow arrives or tmrrw morning. It’s an essential journeys situation. My work has encouraged everyone with homework IT kit to take it tonight. Im booked on leave as well…bugger.
  22. Tinkering round the edges. There needs to be a greater emphasis on taxing wealth / land (in particular simply because you happen to own a house). Far too much untaxed wealth locked up in property and an ever diminishing share of workers shouldering the tax burden via income tax and indirect taxes. There need to be disincentives for rentiers and those sitting on undeveloped brown field sites.
  23. All the old people now be dead, no one working to pay the state bills. House price collapse.
  24. I’m a recreational cyclist and odd time bike commuter and that Pulrose Bridge is a mess. The loss of the second lane coming off the Bridge onto Peel Road is pointless. The cycle lane there is utter shite and I can see why the anti-bike mob hate it. I do too.
