A couple of nasty scenes at the end (not in a mega-graphic torture porn sort of way)

 

I think we've seen different versions of this film. The one I saw featured mega-graphic torture porn.

 

I agree with Bozz.

 

 

 

AntiChrist is pretty full on. Seeing Defoe spunk blood and get that grinding wheel through his leg were pretty graphic. OK it's not eye burning out with a blow torch or close up of someones tendons being sliced but it's pretty hard going. And Chalotte Gainsburg cutting her own flaps off is bang wrong too.

 

But afterwards, how did she maintain lift and avoid stalling at low airspeeds

Last two films I watched were Superbad, and Kickass. Thoroughly enjoyed both.

 

I think the whole concept of "McLovin" and those two cops was one of the funniest things I've seen for yonks. Lots of real life lols there - which is rare.

 

 

Oh, and I caught half of Superman2 the other day - always a delight to watch 1 & 2 with the hugely camp Terence Stamp as Zod vs the best incarnation there's ever been of the man of steel. A real good family classic.

Watched Valentines Day with the missus the other night. I've no one else to blame but myself.

Thoroughly enjoyed "IP Man", possibly the best martial arts movie i've ever seen (including Enter the Dragon and Ong Bak)

 

Oh, also saw "Hot Tub Time Machine" - absolutely shite

Alice in Wonderland - also stunningly shit

Harry Brown - good

Clash of the Titans (2010) - awful.

 

All on blu ray (the IP Man quality was especially superb mind)

I've been getting into Akira Kurosawa movies. Watched Yojimbo last weekend, and Seven Samurai this weekend. I've got Rashomon and Ran left to watch. Can anyone recommend other films of his?

 

 

Have you seen the 1980 (I think...) sci-fi re-imagining of the Seven Samurai/Magnificent Seven called Battle Beyond the Stars?

 

I love the cheesy 80's styling and good showings from George Peppard (Hannibal from the orignal A-Team), Richard Thomas (from the Waltons) and John Saxon (Who interestingly played almost the exact same character in the Magnificent Seven) and the effects were created by a J. Cameron (you know Aliens, Terminator, Titanic, Avatar etc).

 

Now the effects are a bit naff when held up to the likes of Star Wars/Empire Strikes back but consindering they had a fraction of the budget they did resonably well.

 

Interesting side note: The score and space ship effects were used (scene for scene) in another chessy 80's Sci-Fi flick, Space Raiders

Loved both those films. Was the lizard type humanoid on the good or bad side in Battle Beyond the Stars? He reminds me of the lizard humanoid in The Last Starfighter and slightly less so in Ememy Mine. Lizard people where in vogue back then.

Ah, you mean Cayman of the Lambda Zone. He was a goodie of sorts. He was going to sell the female lead character into slavery or have her melted down for her proteins until he heard that she was fighting the evil Sador of the Malmori.

Watched "The Road" last night. Most realistic portrayal of what a post war/apocalyptic life would most likely be. As a parent i found it very powerful and a very emotional movie

Saw the A-Team last night.

 

When I had seen the trailers for this film, I felt my 80's childhood die just that little bit more (Knightrider NNNNOOO!O!!!!!!!).

 

But having watched the film itself I fell a little bit better.

 

Certainly a fun film to watch and the characters aren't too badly mangled (not totally convinced by Rampage jackson as B.A. not enough....well Mr. T about him).

Fantastic film - love it! Don't forget the likes of Nestor, and those telepathic shortarse dudes. Plus Gelt as well, played by Robert Vaughn, and that Valkyrie bird with the big hooters!

John Saxon was in Enter the Dragon too.
