But things will improve reassuringly in February this year because February last year was when the UK had bad weather. The Airport Manager must be full of confidence that the additional 300,000 passengers required this year to be back in line with the Plan will be a cinch given the arrival of big jets.

So let me get this straight. Every person on a canceled flight just never subsequently arrived here? Why would anyone just write off a ticket because of bad weather? Surely if your flight was cancelled due to weather and you were coming here for Xmas you'd get a refund and just switch to the next available flight? That woman is clearly just full of shite.

Are those lamp posts or fence post on the stretch after the Sefton roundabout?

If they were lamp posts there could be bodies swinging from them come the revolution! Surely they are not fence posts! Are they moving the prison down to BeeGees Global?

It is a shame that the Manager's bonus is not based on return on capital achieved as she would be paying off most of the VAT deficit from the 'disimprovement' at the airport

The marketing strategy needs to be reviewed

The entire airport should be covered in gold leaf. This will make it shine and look pretty

Every school on the Island should make a papier mache full size aeroplane. These can be positioned all over the golden airport and like plastic decoy pigeons on a field of growing kale, will entice other aircraft to land

At the same time, a new Manx National Bank Holiday should be created.

On this day, everyone who lives here, dresses in traditional manx garb, makes their way to a beach and throws all their money into the sea in tribute to the Goddess of The Golden Runway. A sort of Manx/Inca religious fusion. This will delight the annual tourist visitor.

The frustrating thing is it was illustrated to Tynpotwald before they went ahead that this all was farcical in terms of a capital project ! and so it proves !!

This airport debate has been dragging on for many months now. To finally sort it, I think we should dunk Ms Reynolds off the end of the runway extension.

If she drowns, then that will finally prove she was right all along; if she doesn't drown, that'll prove we were right all along, and we should then burn her. To make it a fair test we'd have to tie her to one of those large lumps of granite they are using down there to underpin the extension, just to make sure she sinks properly.

Does she own a black cat?

On a serious note, now all the extra infrastructure is in place the upkeep and ongoing costs are going to be huge ! something the island could definitely do without in the current climate. How does this all fit in with the original proposal by the then airport director Phil Pain

Pain (2004) asserts that “we need to be satisfied that the business case for this project represents best value for money, as the airport is required to be financially self-sufficient and there are no external grants or aid available towards the cost”. ....... Therefore it is essential to thoroughly examine the proposal to determine the economic viability in terms of return on investment.

Wonder why that went out of the window when Reynoldsway took over !!

Doesn't it worry anyone that the numbers, despite all the bad weather, are basically static?

Because it means all that extra investment is a complete and utter waste of money should...

At the risk of seeming like I haven't been following this issue very closely, I thought the runway was being extended to meet safety requirements for the existing size of planes using Ronaldsway rather than in the hope it would pave the way for larger aircraft to use the airport.
