Blade Runner
"BELLYWOOD" Has a "ring" to it and if spelt out in 10 metre high white letters, where the Electric Railway sign is on the cliff face beside the old Summerland site, it would look good and quite possibly get us on the national TV news for a reason other than tax "planning"? No such thing as bad publicity, so they say..........................
Amadeus
No doubt the media would liken it to the Hollywood sign overlooking LA. In reality the island is more like San Fernando Valley than Hollywood, though, with all the screwing around and people getting shafted.... Albert Tatlock
I prefer 'Follywood'. More of an element of truth to it.
GD4ELI
Let's hope it ends up in Jurbywood?
Amadeus
Don't be Sillywood. It will end in Tanningwood, surely.

Get a life
On BBC News, Pinewood studios could be one of a number of studios in England to be used to film the new Star Wars movie. Ironically due to tax breaks the British Government are giving them. http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/entertainment-arts-22491025
asitis
Did we nearly get the new star wars film ?
bishbashbosh
The Gov need to make sure at least a scene is filmed here for some credibility and kudos! BBC News mentions filming in the Isle of... Skye.
asitis
So the G7 places tax evasion as its priority keeping low tax jurisdictions in its cross hairs. That is unless the UK wants to be a low tax jurisdiction for the film ! Hypocrisy of the highest order.
Blade Runner
The Gov need to make sure at least a scene is filmed here for some credibility and kudos! BBC News mentions filming in the Isle of... Skye. You know the bar scene in the first episode? The one where the bounty hunter is after Hans Solo? An up to date version of that could be filmed in one of Ramsey's pubs, the decor may need a bit of work but the local patrons will pass just as they are for alien extras.... oldmanxfella
Nevermind, for the next 3 years it can all be about STAR WARS, STAR WARS, STAR WARS. Has Eddie mentioned yet that they've got STAR WARS at Pinewood now? STAR WARS, STAR WARS, STAR WARS, STAR WARS, STAR WARS, STAR WARS, STAR WARS, STAR WARS, STAR WARS. Have we mentioned STAR WARS yet?
Amadeus
Pinewood may get part of it. It would then need to be calculated how that translates to profit for IOMG's investment.
asitis
BBC news reporting how many jobs it will secure in the UK and how many supporting industries will benefit from a project of this size. I doubt it will have much effect for the IOM, certainly won't help with our job situation, maybe a small bounce in the share price perhaps. It will not fill the void left by the awol 8 million ! I however wait with baited breath for a government press release slapping themselves on the back.
