The Head Teacher at Ramsey Grammar has a higher salary than our Chief Minister ffs. This relatively low salary combined with the flack and personal insults that are continuously thrown at all MHKs as well as the level of 24/7 work it entails must be a big factor in why more people don't stand. it can't be that bad as many of the same faces keep trying to get or keep their snouts in the trough, i suspect for some it is about social standing and status . For example, what are the salaries of the UK Prime Minister and the USA President? I see that the Cape Verde president has a salary of £15,893 - but then again, he only has to deal with a population of 593,149.

TheTeapot
You. You've said it before too in your various previous characters and you were wrong then as well, and you're still wrong now.

cissoltt
Seems strange to be celebrating a politician who was removed from her post due to failure to tackle massive project overspends, a housing crisis and a toxic leadership team. The claim 'she was doing an amazing job' doesn't seem to be shared by the residents or politicians in Jersey. 1

Mutual whitewashing and glossing over of inconvenient facts in order that its representatives can continue to enjoy much taxpayer-funded junketry is one of the reasons that the CPA exists. This article was clearly written by a man who aspires to experiencing even greater amounts of said junketry. He said much the same things about his former employers, The Louis Group. That ended well too. Where's the TT Scoreboard, Rob?
Fred the shred
By his standards she was doing an amazing job and that folks says it all.
2112
The NPM reports this morning on the Peoples Prince heroic attempts to reunite the Parish of Onchan, from Garff, and make Onchan great again. His attempt to wrest parts of Onchan which merged into Garff, in Tynpotwald failed. Could Rob Callister not read reality, the island is in a mess, dire strait’s economically, and yet he is concerned with matters which compared to our current problems are trivial. To be fair though he’s only responding to what most of Onchan seem to want. I’ve not yet met any resident on the Garff side of Onchan who actually wants to vote in Garff. They all want to be in Onchan so he’s only doing what the people seem to want. 1

You may have a very good point, but, what’s done is done, It’s really not a priority to be dealing with parochial parish matters, when there are really pressing national matters which need attention. If the island wasn’t in the mess it is in then maybe our politicos could indulge in matters like these. Now isn’t the time to debate.

At least his constituency might think it’s relevant. Unlike Hooper and his ridiculous Bishop bashing. The whole lot of this administration are a useless shower of shite. He’s just one jet in the sprayer.
Non-Believer
They prefer to focus on parochial issues because it's what they're elected on and are the limits of their "talents". Bigger issues are outwith their abilities; I think some even run scared of the challenges, hence it's all left to the CS to sort out and the majority just nod suggestions through.
