I feel much safer now, knowing our future is at least partly in their hands.

Not.

A fearsome team of politicians, accompanied no doubt with a few civil service carers to make sure  the team don’t get any silly ideas like policy discussions.

It’s a fair comment but it’s in that Islands psyche. They know they were sold out. They do not have the affinity the IOM seems to have with the UK when it comes to relying on what they say to dictate policy. Quite right too.

It may be in the psyche, but it is hardly fair. I understand that you could scarcely make a case for charging them for defence! As for policy, there is little difference between the crown dependencies in their relationship with the UK. In extremis, they all do as they are told. How it looks is all about presentation.

What do we think the Constable of St Helier is supposed to say on record when asked? Fooking hell, four hours of my life I'll never get back? It all becomes a self-sustaining cycle. We found someone on Jersey who says the visit was a success, therefore it was.

Spuan had his own jolly to Dublin - tweeted that with great pride too

Though he seems to have omitted his trip to Armenia earlier in the month.  It's all go in the wig-wearing world.

A lot of these jollies are nominally funded by international bodies such as the CPA, but you wonder how much the extras cost and whether the 'minders' they always seem to need have to paid for by the Manx taxpayer.

Armenian massacre - “Mr Speaker, who contributed both as facilitator and as a speaker on best international practice in engaging the media and civil society organisations in public financial management...”

Laughable, isn't it?

Baron Boot says that the cost of going to Jersey with nine others was "modest" yet failing to actually say how much it cost the tax-payer, or what, in detail, was gleaned from the trip.
