They are expanding in numbers though? Seem to remember something on the news online the other day about Liz bypassing Charlie for King and passing the crown straight to William too?

I'd be sorry to see the Royal Family abolished, because they are part of British history and tradition, promoting the British brand to the rest of the world, etc. but if the younger royals start playing fast and loose with it, that is where we are heading - it will give ammunition to people who want to abolish the institution altogether.  If they are getting money from the public purse they should carry out their public duties.

Interestingly, he wrote that before the French Revolution.  Had he seen the result of it, he might have changed his mind.

The French royal family used to live in the Palace of Versailles until the French Revolution, when they were evicted and guillotined in 1793.  The Palace of Versailles is now a tourist attraction, attracting over 7 million visitors per year.  Would people like to see the same thing happen to Buckingham Palace (apart from the guillotining bit of course)?  There are no right or wrong answers to this - I'm just curious to take an opinion poll.

They are a bunch of entitled, free loading, law breaking, kiddy fiddling wasters who are a net drain on the tax payer.

Do away with them.

To be honest, they don't even know who you are...

The annual cost per individual tax payer for the entire royal family is less than a pound.

This generally seems to be the biggest gripe about the firm by any 'anti-royalists' and is pretty narrow-minded when you take into context the above.  They provide much more than this in return via goodwill, patronages, heritage, tourism etc.

It might be a valid point for the 'lesser' Royals, but they are being phased out and Harry seems to be have volunteered for it!   The 'senior' Royals do a frankly mind boggling amount of work with engagements, visits etc.  No one would really want to do all the visits and small talk that they seem to do.
