Seems a bit odd you can get sacked for being principled?  And what's so important about getting the planning thing passed?

He got sacked because to be part of the club you sign to vote collectively on the basis that club decides. You break the club rules you are out. The rules of the club may be crap but presently them are the rules and they have been like that for a fair few years now. Certainly ling before HQ became CM.

Exactly so lost login the vote was a very important one as well it was about closing the borders.....

Pretty irrelevant what the vote was about, the sacking was simply for not following the rules of the club. If by chance it was the CM who voted against the council of ministers you can be pretty certain he would be fairly promptly removed as well

This appears to be another thread where people just have a go at HQ because they don't like him.

I like him but he sooooooo loves himself - totes :) Have you ever spoken to him? He is honest about himself but himself is all he has the capacity to talk about, great guy though.

I thought it was pretty impressive to see a politician put his commitment to transparency and public participation in the planning process ahead of his Ministerial role. That's gutsy, Thomas will pay the financial cost here to do what he thinks is right. That shows some decent courage to stick by his beliefs.

The amendment would stop people using planning procedures to Get passed the border, Thomas seems to think we should be more relaxed borders.

he will almost certainly start throwing rocks into the pool now. lookout for a tonne of Keys questions delving into the places had had insider knowledge. the CM would probably regret this decision excepting he's getting ready to retire, so doesn't care one jot. a bumpy ride ahead for the rest though

This is Rob Callisters big chance! Go Rob!!

Or Jason Mooorhouse.

It'll most likely be Tim "pick me pick me" Baker. With Bill Shimmins or Martyn Perkins as outside hopefuls. A diversity curve ball would be Anne Corlett simply because she doesn't say much and would offer a pleasant reprieve from Chris Thomas.

Lawrie Hooper would fit in with the pattern that Quayle has been following of the Cabinet Office member becoming a minister (Ashford then Allinson). However, he's a little to new in the role, a little to controversial and a little to outspoken.
