Banker
43 minutes ago, Dhoon Boy said: Decision will result in a number of redundancies Strix has announced a partial closure of its Ramsey factory. The company - which is a global leader in the design, manufacture and supply of kettle safety controls - told Manx Radio the move will result in a number of redundancies. The specific number can't be confirmed at this time while the company undergoes a full consultation with those affected. Manx Radio understands at least four positions may be at risk. Strix says it's committed to maintaining its head office and manufacturing operations on Island. A spokesperson for the company said: "The company can confirm that a commercial decision has been taken in response to pressures on its sustainability considerations and global supply to affect a partial closure of its Ramsey factory. "This does unfortunately mean that a number of roles will be displaced due to redundancy. "Strix management respectfully ask that speculation as to the outcome of this consultation is not entered into via any media channels as this can be unnecessarily distressing to those directly impacted." Most of the manufacturing has been done in China for many years I thought, didn’t know they still had any manufacturing capacity here

They will still need an IOM holding company thought to book all those global profits tax free.

Most recently that building was part occupied by Wilko, and that has been shut for years now too. They shut that and small Castletown factory when they moved a substantial part of the manufacturing abroad back in the 90's

It’s now basically a Chinese manufacturing operation with an IOM headquarters where they can book their global profits at zero rate corporation tax.

No. The owners announcement says After 9 wonderful years of brewing tea and slicing cake, sharing hugs, stories, laughter and tears, it is with mixed emotions that we announce our upcoming departure from of our much loved Tea Junction in May next year. Our lease is up in May 2025, and while it's bittersweet to say goodbye, we're excited about the opportunity to pass the venue to new owners. In its current format the site would lend itself to a superb evening dining & cocktail venue. As you will know we’ve built up a loyal customer base over the years. Sadly, as with many other catering establishments the prosperous days are becoming sparse. Rising wage costs, coupled with a turbulent inflationary world have meant falling revenue making it increasingly difficult to sustain the concept in its current format. Interested and serious parties only please contact in the first instance by email to admin@theteajunction.im to discuss how you can make this venue your own and continue its legacy of excellence.
