I’m not in fact. But from what I have seen I just need convincing these people are not a bunch of cowboys

Why should you be convinced or otherwise? If you have no skin in the game then it really shouldn't matter.

And that is what the government is for. It's not Crogga we need to worry about it's the people we employ to create, manage and enforce the license.

Unfourtunately, seeing as FA happened with Manx Gas billing fiasco and Trading Standards, we'll end up with the tail wagging the dog and have to trust Crogga are honourable. And the same goes for whoever gets to build the windymillers and shineymobobs as no-one in Government will have a clue about it.

We pay milk and honey and still get monkeys.

It seems the general cynicism and scepticism on the forum melts away when faced with the prospect of handing a seabed drilling licence to the people who brought us the Crosby Meadows snagging list headed up by a bloke who has been fined as part of an attempted bribery

It's called desperation.

Because if you think about the economic reality of no gas field, then the island is really fucked.

Absolute rubbish .

There you go again trying to discredit Crogga despite you being pro gas extraction…..

How about three60 energy the operator who Crogga have appointed to drill.

BP have subcontracted their offshore assets to this company if you do a quick Google check as I am sure you will do :)

Even if, and that is a very big IF. There is a viable gas field you can guarantee the MHK's and civil service/attorney general will all have a hand in fucking it up, and all we will be left holding is a bunch of beans and our own knobs. And that I can guarantee.

Fully agree,

The Gas is there

if Crogga and their appointed drilling operators are allowed to drill . As per their CEO ( former head of BPs geology and exploration ) the odds of the gas flowing at commercially viable levels is better than a coin toss .

The Isle of Man rubber stamps UK rules and regs all the time but for some reason they do not appear to want to adopt the North Sea transition authority regs which the drilling operator requires.

I bet when it comes to  offshore wind turbines the regs are fast tracked , but they will probably f**k that up to .

their default position appears to do nothing

BP have drilled test wells ( they will have subcontracted to drilling operators just like Crogga has ) previously and plugged with out issue.

The Key board eco warriors are getting their knickers in a twist about the drilling ,,,, deflect , delay etc , but it’s what these guys do and they depend on doing a good job for their business reputation.

know doubt if this goes tits up Alf will say it’s a departmental matter or legally he cannot comment …….sound familiar….

what is the point of having a chief minister if they do not get involved in important matters such as this .

useless

No problem with them per se, just suspect it will end in tears between them if it happens

The top of the tree is Crogga. They are not subcontractors. Subcontractors go along with anything that means possible income. What has Crogga achieved?

If you were about to construct a new west wing to your mansion, a design of considerable world-class structural difficulty, and a newly incorporated company which has no track record whatsoever (other than three people who claim to have some family history in the village) - says "Don't worry, trust me, I'm a doctor. We will subcontract out the work". Would you sign the contract?

For the avoidance of doubt I am 100% in favour of realising this once in a lifetime asset, if it exists. There are no guarantees. Crogga are confident and it’s their money and reputation at stake, so as long as the remediation guarantees are in place and it’s never going to cost the taxpayer, I’m a supporter. I even considered investing, but I’m not a gambler.

I don’t think IOMG is holding things up, just being cautious on our behalf. That’s not a bad thing. IOMG has been played in the past so is more risk averse as a result.

If I was religious I’d be clutching a teddy bear and saying a prayer every night that this scheme is successful. That’s a mental image that will keep you awake…
