Totally agree. This guy needs to go, universally disliked by many racers, fans, seniors in the marshaling structure and marshals.

The TT/MGP should have a collective agenda, not an individual agenda driven by one man, which many people see as the likely demise of the MGP in particular.

I don't know the guy, so I'm not calling for him to go.

But I do think fixed term contracts would be beneficial in many areas of IOM Government for the reason that people can become too comfortable in their positions.

I do understand that Max but there must be hundreds of circuit  riders who believe they can qualify and so will try to?

For a circuit racer where the biggest danger is that the bike will bounce on top of you, the lure of the TT course is the pinnacle of their ambition but how many Families persuade them not to come here?

We don't have sand traps!

I think you're quite right, and even riders who have successfully tried it and decided it's not for them. It is hard for families and as much as I support the races I can't understand young fathers racing at them at all.

Thanks Max, it's good to hear your 'reasoned' but 'supportive' argument for these races rather than the polarised pro/agin of the usual arguments!

What about a 'Knebworth' to replace the excitement of TT week!!!

He may come in for a lot of criticism but it's got to be recognised that a lot of things which have been done by him and his team in the past have ensured that the TT is still with us. Despite working for government I believe that they have a lot of different groups to satisfy and securing funding isn't always easy.

You don't have to look far to see that it could so easily be swept away, and having people whose job it is to keep it running and relevant is vital when voluntary organisations would have had to throw in the towel long ago. I know that isn't a popular view but we live in different times unfortunately.

When you say "securing funding isn't always easy", what do you mean by that? Funding for what part of the TT?

On the island last weekend, what I noticed having been away:-

  • 1) Glen Helen, by the "Black Dub" seems to have sprouted a TT type grandstand.

Has this carbuncle in an otherwise nice looking glen area got planning permission?

  • 2) Glen Helen has had a lot of trees cut down and looks sh1t due to that.

What was the reason for the tree felling? - To make the  grandstand get more sun?

  • 3) Nothing else looks much different from 2 years ago, my last visit,  on my leisurely drive around the island.

Generally the above is....

Not a good thing, as the island just looks 2 years more un loved and un repaired/ run down, than when I was here then,  will anything ever be repaired?

  • 4) How on earth do you think the island is going to attract another 15k of residents when it is so run down.

Seriously, do you think the "Island Plan" is viable?

The black dub is busy and booked up in advance for most sessions.  The business model seems good enough that they don’t have to bother doing anything for the rest of the year.  They had Carl Cox there,  it was mega

You need to get a life.  It’s all good progress down there and the trees that have been felled won’t be missed by anyone.

Wow, did you manage to cover up your excitement?

Who is Carl Cox?

Sounds like porn star which may explain your infatuation............

So you clearly aren’t a fan of the TT or modern culture. Which might explain why you don’t “get it”

I think that's been thought about, but unlike the TT, there's plenty of festivals within driving distance of most people.

As far as I'm aware they have to provide a business case for everything which they do, and sometimes get knocked back. The replacement scoreboard being a case in point.
