Lost Login
To quote Mr Shimmin "Every extra pound spent by his department produces three to the government" It does make you wonder how the IoM Govt are having such trouble balancing the books as every time Govt spending is announced or questioned the same justification is used. This expenditure produces X times to the economy, or there is the mythical multiplier effect. If all this expenditure was producing this return to the Govt it should be simple to balance the books! You also wonder why if every extra pound produces three to the government" the departments budget and spending has been cut in recent years as presumably every cut in such spending would have resulted in a bigger cut in government income. Either Mr Shimmin is telling porkies or Mr Teare's budget cuts worsened the financial position of the Govt. Maybe Mr Robertshaw will have to start all vetting all press releases so that department do not contradict each other now we have no Silos
Thomas Jefferson
Mr Shimmin says every extra pound spent by his department returns three to the taxpayer. If this guy's claim is true, we should give DED an extra £116 million to make up for the £350 million VAT deduction. Problem solved.
dilligaf
Mr Shimmin only said " I am confident that every £1 spent, will generate at least £3 for the taxpayer"
manxie44
For goodness sake is there not staff who could be re assigned from areas where they may be less important ? Yes, but they already live here. These new appointments are ' important' , so more brains from across will need to be imported, to introduce ideas from across which don't work there and won't work here

The Border Terrier
To quote Mr Shimmin "Every extra pound spent by his department produces three to the government" +1. And well spotted. Does the comment mean that The Sefton Group is £9+ million up after their cash injection? If so, could the taxpayer have their £3 million back? I've absolutely no confidence whatsoever in the Right Honourable John Shimmin MHK (JS); is he another dumbell for the bums rush at the next election? JS did say he would 'fall on his sword' if an inquiry proves he (along with Bell & Teare?) was negligent over the Sefton deal. That inquiry is due soon. But after the Nobles7 Inquiry suggested Killip was culpable, he got cash (under the guise of early retirement) to leave as a penance. Consequently, some taxpayers don't believe in the Inquiry Process. And as an aside, why do Consultants go through years of training and continuous validation to practice medicine for their £100k+ salary, when Killip receives more for being incompetent? And when proven incapable, he isn't 'struck off', but rewarded by the taxpayer? TBT.
