Just heard a headline on manx radio that a Bell Jet Ranger has cshed up on the mountainside near the 33rd. No reports on the pilot, but no one else involved. It was a privately owned machine with one on board.

Can't see any racing going ahead today.

Because that's the priority now?

No, the pilots well being and the ongoing investigation take priority, hence why I don't think there will be any racing today.

Luckily no buildings or housing near that valley but God what awful news. Heard a lot of emergency services heading out just after 9 so assume that was the cause. Terrible.

Privately owned Bell 206 with 1 onboard, receiving medical treatment but is probably ok.

Lucky though - most helicopter crashes are pretty bad because they have the gliding quotient of Johnny Vegas.

Yes, has to be a film crew or one of those paid for rides. Either way it's awful and hopefully no fatalities if people are just receiving medical treatment. Lots of space to bring it down and hopefully take some speed off before impact up there.

Must admit I did fear the worst. But the Police statement suggested they were speaking to the pilot involved. Its a hell of a recovery job though.

Not necessarily - could just be someone transiting the area, above the 3,000 foot NOTAM'ed restricted airspace.

Also, if it was was filming it would almost certainly have more than just the pilot on board (news reports have just one POB)
