Max Power
Hooray for the DED, what did I tell ye? I never doubted them for a minute, not for a minute!

Albert Tatlock
I don't think Rob had much to do with it, the bids went in months ago.
slinkydevil
I don't think Rob had much to do with it, the bids went in months ago. Hang on minute, maybe he sent them a letter when he was a commissioner and that swung it.
The Phat Tog
Nothing to complain about here, may as well close the thread! Give them time, its a bit early in the day for the fat grumpy men to surface, but expect many pages of complaints about road closures and men in lycra. I'm a fat grumpy man........and I have no issues with this.
Albert Tatlock
You can buy anything, if you throw enough money at it. I'd still like to know the cost of this, and who else did or didn't bid

Albert Tatlock
DED have enough taxpayers cash to throw at this...but it doesn't mean that they got the best deal. They are desperate for a win to just justify themselves. But what price a win?
SamHandwich
I doubt they have paid anything directly, it's not the bloody Olympics. It's just a medium sized UK sporting event that will probably bring a few thousand people over...exactly the type of event IOM should be aiming for.
