TheTeapot
You already knew DED was stuck some time in the past with their belief that The Jacksons were still relevant

dilligaf
Article I read mentioned the competitions new format? I am pretty sure there won't be a swimsuit round, or a banana eating competition so until we know what the new format entails isn't it a bit early for people to be getting their granny pants in a twist? Not a lot of point then, may as well bin the project now and save the money.
thebees
One time, when Scholl sponsored it, they had a Miss Pretty Feet, that is a bit weird, isn't it? That is totally what they should do, make an absolute circus of it, miss pointy nose, miss hair flick, miss beautiful bean and so forth, it would be hilarious. Kopek
Our perception of beauty has changed so much since the 'beauty pageants of the 50's 60's. We would not call someone 'ugly' these days and a pert nose and pouty lips does not compare with the diverse multi cultural looks on the street today that has an attractiveness that does not rely on the 'English Rose' of the past. That is the point, a person can be attractive without being classically beautiful and a beautiful person is not necessarily attractive!

A decent set of cans on a tidy chassis with a half decent face goes a long way.

Horatio
Made me laugh when the councillor who called this event sexist then goes on to refer to any prospective contestants as "some young girl"!! The irony wasn't lost... Now if women who have worked hard to make themselves beautiful want to show off their hard work on the stage, why is that sexist? It is no different from, for example, a bodybuilder who has worked hard showing off his/her body on the stage. If this makes the individual participant feel good, the only reason somebody would object and call it sexist is because they feel inadequate by comparison. llap
What is wrong with appreciating female beauty? Society is so messed up these days. Beautiful women - bad and sexist; ugly fat women with bleeding vaginas - modern art. It's all wrong.
notwell
The winner should compete at Miss World too. Get it hosted here. They could open Tahiko especially.
