Or "Oddbins presents..."

This is sounding horribly familiar. Local businessman makes success out of business then is binned off by billionaire tax dodger who makes starstruck idiots out of those in charge. Just look at Cooil Road and Strand Street for other examples.

What examples?

People like you would be the first to moan if tenders were not in place and Bushys  (for example) were just given it without any consideration to others who could provide what is a very very basic set up.   Douglas council represent the rate payer and they have a right to at least a fair tender process.

Bushys signed a three year deal three years ago.   It is hardly a surprise to them.

I used to love the bushy's tent, but its lost its sparkle over the years.  I know a lot of this is due to H&S issues with the burnouts and stuff, but its just not what it was, its become a tradition and that's one of the reasons people head down there.

Also the security issue is becoming a pain, was in there the other night and couldn't get out the sea terminal end (wanted to use their loos, rather than trying to wade through the sea of people to the other end for a wazz) because of the zip line apparently.  The bigger barriers and less space out front has also had an effect.

It does need livening and freshening up, a lot.  Maybe its time for a change, so new ideas?  I like the Carole Nash stage, and although the tent is only 90 degrees to it, you are cut off from the music when you are in there.  Wonder if there is a better site that can be used, maybe the Villa gardens?

If Bushy's lost the tender, then they would probably have to go to Ramsey, there is only really room for one beer tent in Douglas, it gets packed but not all the time.

That's nuts. They're complete megalomaniacs. Some one needs to take Douglas council in hand, seriously.

The thing is its douglas councils land. They need to do the best for douglas ratepayers.  People complain about the steam packet and no competition and it's a monopoly. This is no different. Bushys does a great job but if the council didn't pit it out to tender they would be accused of all sorts.

don't forget that bushy's may win the tendering process so might not be such a big deal??   is there room up at santon for a beer tent on the bushy's brewery site??

don't think it would be a great idea to site the tent outside Douglas, it would encourage people to drive there , as we all know drink driving is not good.
