We had a bloody good laugh about people like you. :D

To be fair, such are the people you need to convince to become elected (Keys or LegCo).

Yer man made himself a King or whatever. You can't actually make yourself a member of Tynwald. It's a wee bit harder than that.

But, he's planning to stand for the Legislative Council. There was no mention in the MR interview as to whether he has found two MHK's who will nominate, and second, him. (I think that is the process to get into the ballot).

Last time they did it you needed four MHKs to back you.  But the only certainty about MLC elections is that every time they do it the system will be even more ridiculous and undemocratic than it was the previous time.  So who knows?

ICBA to check, but as far as I am aware it is still the case that there has to be a proposer and a seconder before their name is thrown into the pot. Otherwise there is no vote.

It is not unknown for the seconder to get the cabdidate's name incorrect after introducing their "good friend" (an easy enough mistake I suppose but it raised a muffled titter in the House.

Another case, for the candidate there was a proposer and a seconder, but come the count the candidate received only 1 (one) vote! The candidate was a sitting MLC going for another term. It must have been a real shit day that one.

Humbles (or whatever she calls herself now) is up next isn’t she? Didn’t she get just the remainder of Wilds term?

Actually there's four whose terms end at the end of next February: Cretney, Crookall, Henderson and SharpeSharpe (not Humbles) was elected fifth and so took over the rest of Anderson's term after he stepped down early.  Poole-Wilson had originally taken over the rest of Wild's term, but was then elected to a full one.
