asitis
The whole of Langness is an ASSI in respect of wildlife, but as usual no one gives a toss. The mantra of the island, if money isn't involved then we're not interested ! Edited August 31, 2023 by asitis

You'd be surprised at the number of restrictions and no-go areas up there now...to owners as well as dogs. Big areas of the shingle foreshore roped and taped off and activity restrictions further west towards Ballaghennie. Very much a wildlife-centric area now, recreation as it used to be a definite 2nd best.

Site ready and available. Perfect! It's actually not a good place for wind. I know you were just jesting but .... The prevailing wind is from the SW so having wind turbine at sea level in the NE is the antipathies of optimum. South Barrule is the best place. Just how long does this nonsense have to go on for before they serve a notice under s24 of the Building Control Act 1991? Would any Malew Commissioner care to respond here to explain your (apparent) lack of action? https://www.legislation.gov.im/cms/images/LEGISLATION/PRINCIPAL/1991/1991-0021/BuildingControlAct1991_1.pdf Edited September 1, 2023 by Yibble 1
asitis
I was told yesterday by someone on site, that the reason it is not being demolished is it is full of asbestos and the costs will be too high without subsequent planning permission. So as usual it appears the developer have everyone over a barrel !

It is SE, with clear run to SW. yes, it was in jest. However, putting them along the edge of the Airport is not. Already owned, cleared and secure area.

There used to be a wind turbine at the airport many years ago. The obviously thought it was ok back then. The planes themselves would not be affected. The turbines would be nowhere near the runways. Plus, on foggy days we can reverse the polarity and blow it away reducing flight delays and cancellations. 1

Fort Island Developments / Dandara don't have a God-given right to make a profit. If they've made a bad commercial decision, on the (incorrect) assumption they were going to get to build a housing estate there, tough titty.
