Losing your job

Should you lose your job for saying:

"drunks, homosexuals, adulterers, liars, fornicators, thieves, atheists and idolaters" should "repent" because "only Jesus saves"

The Christian bible IS explicitly homophobic, it also approves of slavery.  What should believers in it do ... keep quiet ... or should society be tolerant of their beliefs?

Is it ok to be fired for communicating what the Christian bible explicitly says?

No.

  • The bible is not exclusively Christian, lots of the old testament is found elsewhere and obviously predates Christianity.
  • The fact that many hard-core Christians believe the old testament to be the word of God shows just how dim our species is.

If you really are a Christian the ask yourself one simple question: what would Jesus do?

Well it's a fine line isn't it? Is free speech really free speech when it is permissible only to the extent that it agrees with the current lines that have been drawn by the most vociferous liberals? In the end it becomes tolerance of intolerance, but only if it is of a certain type. It is insightful to observe the squirming of the liberals for a position to take when the assertion of cultural diversity (e.g fundamentalist Islam) confronts the assertion of sexual freedom (e.g the teaching of LGBT and transgenderism in schools).

Anyone is entitled to their beliefs.

There are certain circumstances where it’s impermissible to publish them publicly.

One of those circumstances is when you are a highly paid  ($Aus millions) public face/employee of an organisation which promotes inclusion and diversity, and you’ve had it explicitly explained to you previously, by your employers, after a recent public public expression of your beliefs, that repetition isn’t acceptable.

You choose to repeat what you previously said. You’re in breach of contract. Go.

Its nothing to do with liberalism, culture clash, snowflakism. He can believe and say what he wants, in private, but if he wants the multi million salary, and lucrative sponsorship and endorsement opportunities that comes with his privileged position, he stays shtum. And certainly doesn’t republish on social media.

Whats hard to understand.

He’s not the victim. No amount of playing the victim card helps him.

It takes a certain degree of dumb or arrogance for Israel to think he’s so entitled that he can ignore the rules and norms of his job with impunity.

No. There's this little thing we spent about a thousand years developing called FREEDOM OF SPEECH.

"Diversity" and "inclusion" don't mean much if religious nutters are excluded.

We don't have freedom of speech. No country does.  If you cannot say certain things without being punished then there is no freedom of speech.  And such freedoms relating to speech have only reduced in the last twenty years.

Long time no see. Let me amend that: we have a thing called the RIGHT to FREEDOM OF SPEECH. You are correct that our right is violated and infringed to the point of non-existence but the right still remains because it is natural and inalienable, not a "privilege" we've been bestowed from on high by a government.

Oh okay, just as gays can be gay if they're not under contract if the company is owned by a homophobe?
