Apart from Cannabis Island. Coming to an island near you soon. Allegedly.

They missed a trick not pushing the offshore pornhub more. Michael Street would make an excellent red light district and it would revitalise the film industry

It might even get it power washed. It’s only been twenty years since the last it was last done. It would do with another going over.

The detailed data and analysis they have done has convinced someone enough to conditionally put up around $50m of financing, which would cover the cost of the test well and any well plugging /decommissioning costs if it was a duster.

If you're putting up $50m, you sure as hell have done your due diligence!

US$50m is chicken feed to big corporate investors. The only due diligence is “can we afford to lose it” and, as US$50m is loose change to these people, the answer to that is obvious.

US$50m is a lot of money to a small island of 80,000 people. It isn’t to Crogga’s investors.

As for the clean-up, it’ll be the same as all these quarries in the adjacent island- including one I lived near in the Lake District National Park. All the money for clean-up at application but, by the time the quarry closed, mysteriously the operating company only had £3.28 left in the bank and the taxpayer had to tidy up. Just fancy that!

Cannan’s taking a huge risk in not doing it properly. But, even more worryingly, Cannan is neither bright enough nor self-aware enough to realise he’s taking a big risk.

Always difficult building a profitable industry on something people are giving away for free though.

And as I posted above; how desperate is the fiscal situation that such a huge risk needs to be taken?

'Twas an oft quoted reason as to why there was no obvious prostitution here that there was too much competition from the amateurs.

Robertshaw is an arrogant PRICK of the worst order. A political dinosaur who loves his own voice and spouts shite to his own ends.

He forgets the Sefton bailout, the focus on a leisure area outside the Sefton at all costs, a harbour strategy which conflicted with his son''s worldview and so on... a dick...

.

Bit harsh maybe but I don’t understand why Moulton wheels him out at every opportunity for his opinion on anything and everything.

Presumably because he’s the only ex-MHK who’s prepared to give a relatively unfettered view for the watching millions?   Also, he has that “gamekeeper turned poacher” thing going on, you know - the old “I’ve seen the dirty linen that the public never gets to see” thing.

He could always get the many views of Professor Ashford,

In all fairness, whilst there are many Paul and Chris chummy fireside chats, IOMTV sometimes use a ‘round table’ or panel to garner opinions, with the likes of Claire Christian MHK etc. I can’t imagine many other MHKs prepared to publicly stick their neck out, nor can I see IOMTV relying on the likes of Rob Callister for views and opinions either.

If Cannan bulldozes this through he is setting up the government for a massive lawsuit. There is significant advice against proceeding and surely any waiver of the license must be at least approved by Tynwald in advance?
