Hello…. £500 per head of population is that a bargain or what. Of course £40million with cost overruns will be R least £100million. Why do we not just buy the electricity from established U.K. based farms.

Tynpotwald/IOMG want to be seen as. World leaders, they love to dick wave,

It had to be under the £42M they they sort have left over from the bond issue. Likely it will be double that at least and we’ll only find out in 5 years time.

"The lowest manufacturing cost option is to take one of the turbines away and install four, five-megawatt turbines at the same site. The catch, however, is that a marine access ramp would be needed adding on a significant cost - up to an extra £10 million, roughly."

Isn't that what they say though - it's not the recommended option?

Reading between the lines Earystane & 5 no. 4.2MW is the preferred technical option (barring any late surprises on EIA) by some distance. Expect strong lobbying though (already kicked off by the previous prospective MLC candidate who farms in the area) so don't be surprised if we end up with a worse performing cost/technical option.

So, up to a claimed 139 gigawatt hours per year is what the report says for your £30 million

Wholesale energy price at the moment in the UK is 11p per kWh.

So that comes to:

0.11p x 139,000,000 which comes to £15.3 million a year wholesale production.

If the sums are correct, depending on the lifespan of the turbines and maintenance costs, it sounds like a winner. I imagine you’d have to really screw up to only get 2 years out of them.

3 years and you’re laughing to the bank. After 3 years, your price per kWh generated drops to 7p. By 5 years, it’s 4p

Wholesale gas at the moment is 4.71p/kW.

Pulrose is around 50% efficient. And that’s only the cost of the fuel for it.

Yet again, something your island needs that will be stopped because of NIMBYS and the like.

I really love the way there was a "protest group" setup less than a day after the announcement of the 2 sites chosen to be investigated further.

How the F1ck did you lot ever allow motor cars or motor bikes on the rock in the early part of the last century?

Never mind, Crogga gas may kick the can down the road...................

Put them in the fucking sea..

Still don't know why they can't approach one of the new windfarms on the Steampacket routes and do a deal to get free electricity (or 100% discount) in return for the impact on our vital shipping route.

No need to build or maintain them.
