Tossing the decision back to "the people" might be politically attractive but runs the risk of another leave decision, albeit the chances of this happening are decreasing over time. Probably would have been the sensible course of action, if the first referendum had been "the people instruct the Govt to make preparations and enter into discussions to Exit the EU. Upon completion of these negotiations, hold a second referendum to ratify Britain's exit" But there wasn't and there's no great groundswell of people calling for a second referendum. People are not more informed. All that has happened is that there has been much establishment squealing and scare tactics from the media. Totally negative coverage. How to actually leave? Just leave and also leave it to business to sort it out on a "we don't do tariffs if you don't" basis. Business always finds its way. Politicians and bureaucrats never do. Also, HM Queen Elizabeth II has already confirmed we will leave. If the two major political parties continue to betray the British people, I predict a massive shift to the right in British politics as people won't stand for any more of this. The electorate could easily have voted for the LibDems who everyone knows are the party of Brussels.
