Excellent - they should have been doing this year's ago.

Maybe the philosophy could also be applied to the Steamie if they wish to realise 500k visitors to the island per year?

How much does it normally cost for a little general aviation plane to land (or take off?) here? Is this an offer that is genuinely going to attract people?

Yes it is, but not necessarily because of the cost, the IOM is a destination which counts as something of an adventure for pilots who don't fly over open water regularly and something different for the log book. A good initiative, it just needs a few people to have a good time and the word spreads and maybe their next visit is part of the tourism holiday strategy .

Decades ago when I worked in Frankfurt, one of the other engineers had a light aircraft. He told me he had flown into Ronaldsway - presumably just for fun.

All I recall him saying is that when not too far from the airport, ATC gave him a left-right-right-left so that a commercial flight could overtake him.

He didn't say what he did after landing.

I can see why they'd try it. Save your landing fee spend it on an overnight at the falcons nest on a hopefully lovely September evening instead. Hope it does attract a few.

great if someone can tell them when the place is actually open.  is there any fuel available for light aircraft again yet?

Or perhaps they’re just looking to make it easier for people to deliberately crash into our wonderful cliffs?

Change his underpants I should imagine.
