IOM Covid removing restrictions

The unusual font is probably derived from cut and pasting bit and pieces of the two mentioned papers.

You choose to focus on utterly irrelevant details such as the font or the word 'heart' misspelled with an extra 'h' at the end; rather than addressing the damning content issues.

You should read the papers.

And there is so much more of that literature.

The consensus of the BBC and the other MSM is not what people in the know think. The Covid vaccines have been repudiated by independent scientists (those not in the payroll of big pharma).

Very thoughtful of you.

Us commoners and dimwits have limited resources from which to draw our considered responses.

eta: if you have such a low opinion of us commoners and dimwits, why do you keep trying to save us from ourselves?

However, I agree - it was an ill-considered response which I now regret deeply: I’ve let myself down, I’ve let the forum down, I’ve let my country down, etc.

The use of courier monospaced font used to be a common block typeset for newspapers, and this was back in the day when you could read a newspaper cover to cover without seeing spelling, syntax or grammatical errors. When what was written in print was researched and reliable, and was respected.

The use of that font in the original piece is trying to portray those long lost journalistic qualities.

It can be seen as being a bit like those photos on the net of Abraham Lincoln or Nelson Mandela alongside some quote or other that in fact had nothing to do with them.

Regarding spelling error, it has to be said that great pieces of writing can be reduced to nothing over a simple typo, simply because the error - especially to detractors - becomes more significant than the content.

Love it...

The idea that the anti-vaxxers know better than those at the coalface. Laughable!

Fergus Walsh (BBC) was given a hospital tour of a covid Intensive Care Unit. Walking through the ward the Consultant pointed at each bed in turn and said "Unvaccinated, unvaccinated, unvaccinated, unvaccinated, unvaccinated..." etc.

@Escape Artist

Is that what you really want? Lots of very sick and dying people...

What makes you qualified to ascertain whether they are good or bad papers?

How can you interpret them and account for biases, scope and study weaknesses?

How do those weaknesses or strengths reflect on other papers in the field?

Go on, give us a proper literature review.

A handy computer tip for you: a box appears at the bottom of the text field when you paste, with the option to “paste without formatting”.

You can even press the quote button, and that’ll let you put it in a nice collapsible quote box.

Just to make an example, you may wish to check these two papers (but really one has the embarrassment of choice):

1. IgG4 Antibodies Induced by Repeated Vaccination May Generate Immune Tolerance to the SARS-CoV-2 Spike Protein

Humouring you, you can find the actual paper reviews here:

https://www.mdpi.com/2076-393X/11/5/991/review_report

However, if we look at the authors of the paper, they describe a hypothesis that: "IgG4 antibodies produced by B cells in response to infection by SARS-CoV-2 generate immunological tolerance, which prevents its elimination and leads to persistent and chronic infection. In summary, we believe that this constitutes another immune evasion mechanism that bears striking similarities to that developed by cancer cells to evade immune surveillance." https://www.mdpi.com/2218-273X/13/9/1338

You'll notice that the paper linking it to COVID infection is newer.

As for your second paper?
Here's a published response to it: https://www.sciencedirect.com/science/article/pii/S0278691523002995

But why let questionable science stop us when it's in a journal, so it must be good.

Quote

Seneff et al.’s paper resembles a pre-established hypotheses with cherry-picked cell line dependent mechanisms that do not occur in a real-life setting. It is not supported by actual and strong data. Actually, it lacks the scientific rigor required in such a context and leads to science denial with all the bad consequences associated with vaccine hesitancy. We therefore strongly recommend that the new editor to retract this paper and put an end to the harm caused to public health, getting back to a sane scientific debate where sufficient evidence is required to publish ground-breaking scientific papers.

I agree with you. However, in hindsight, that was BBC, in addition, the consultants and doctors all complained of being full, lack of beds, to many cases. Yet the multi million pound Nightingale hospitals were virtually unused. If there were really that many serious cases, we would have seen them used extensively, even if only for convalescence.

Firstly it was the BBC before the right wing tory placemen emasculated it.

Secondly if the Nightingale hospitals had the staff, well, yes.

But they didn't. So it turned out to be an expensive PR exercise. Some £500+m down the Swannee.
