Perhaps Banker could let us know if the decrease in the bin charge will take the pain out of the main rate as the Commissioners have alleged.

That's less that the price of a pint, every day for a year.

(thought I'd get that in before Stu Peters).

Miscalculated as taking overall bill including IOMG , roughly £100 extra on Braddan rates with £38 refuse reduction. Not sure what increase IOMG are adding this year.

We are all being rinsed that is the top and bottom of it once we have paid increases on anything that moves we will not have any money left for beer, coffee or sod all. The Firm Closes topic will be very lively.

Gravy trains take a lot of fuel!

Can the taxpayers actually afford the Governance and administration of the Island ? irrespective of the litany of costly mistakes made by them !

Not the way they've been doing it for the last couple of decades!!

Ah the beacon of humanity that are property management companies. Totally the right people to look after often vulnerable social housing tenants.

Didn’t DBC kick some vulnerable bloke out of his house for being a few quid in arrears and subsequently died.

The 20% headline tax rate is a bit of a sacred cow hence the slow creep of all other ‘taxes’ such as rates. At some point , if the island wants to maintain a decent level of public services then taxes will have to go up. Income tax is the obvious one as the imposition of other forms ( CGT and IHT for example ) would be politically problematic and would need beefing up of resources in the tax office.

Yes , believe so but as everything goes there were a few versions of ‘facts’ of the case. I have no idea of the true story incidentally
