Max Power Posted February 18, 2015 Share Posted February 18, 2015 I have just received my gas bill following two consecutive readings, despite my attempts to reduce my consumption I find that I have my biggest gas bill ever! I read that the robbing Ryan Farquar sponsors would not be reducing their tariffs in line with falling gas prices as they are 'locked in to a purchase deal'! What a load of old cobblers we are expected to swallow? What sort of management do they have? I think it's time that we had a regulatory body which actually does a job for the consumer and not for mates who they socialise with. EORH Posted February 18, 2015 Share Posted February 18, 2015 I am the same my bill is the biggest yet, somebody at the OFT should do something about them, the last time the OFT looked at their tariffs, before the price rise last Sept, they said that Manx Gas were charging the right amount ,in fact it was too little, and in all that time the world price of wholesale gas was dropping along with the oil prices. Somebody is kidding the Manx public here, and govnment are not doing anything about ths monoply, where are the MHKs to do a check on them, because the OFT are not doing their job. asitis Posted February 18, 2015 Share Posted February 18, 2015 I wish I still had the leaflets telling me how much cheaper the natural product was going to be after the conversion it may be except for the calorific value which they clearly omitted to mention, as the others my bill is huge !!!! Albert Tatlock Posted February 18, 2015 Share Posted February 18, 2015 IOM government budget/OFT should threaten them with a monopolistic utility tax like the UK government did in the past on certain utility companies...unless they reduce prices to a reasonable level. Problem is the bloaters in government would just keep the cash for themselves. The OFT has to act for consumers...it is a waste of time and money. That's how it works. It's not even there to do that from what I can see. It's just there to provide government jobs. "Hot - lovely and hot - and cheap" went the blurb on the local radio ads. What they really meant was, "Large - lovely and large"....referring to prices and profits, that is.. Cambon Posted February 18, 2015 Share Posted February 18, 2015 Unfortunately, the price of natural gas has not gone down as much as other fossil fuels, caused mainly by Putin who has been effectively dictating the price, until "they" took down the value of the Ruble in December. Between last summer and December, the price of gas hardly dropped at all. Since mid December it has dropped by about 35%. It will eventually reflect in the prices locally, but it will be of no help this winter. Hopefully, it will be reflected in the price of electricity though.
