asitis
I voted for Jason Moorhouse on the premise that being a graduate of the LSE and being a teacher of economics he had half a brain, as opposed to the other candidates we had to choose from ! Apologetically, I have been proven right, he does have half a brain !!

b4mbi
Hey, how about a tax break for companies contributing to registered charity Mr Moorhouse? Or get seagulls to pay for the food they nick from your relatives? And dogs to pay for cleaning the mess on my shoe this morning
2bees
I got attacked by a gull in Peel on Saturday, it was quite funny, after it failed to nick my pie it stood (hard as nails) in the middle of the road (not caring about the cars) and looked at me menacingly, I didn't give up my pie.

b4mbi
well, that was kinda my ironic point about a tax break for firms paying zero tax anyway, and he'd suggest it as his next idea don't really know what he means. Because paying voluntarily into a social fund is no different from supporting whichever charity a company sees fit to. If it was a mandatory charitable donation, is in effect no different to a tax!
Phillip Dearden
If it's voluntary, it's a big nothing. If it's compulsory, it's tax - we already have that, sort of! [A tax deduction can still matter in a 0% environment. Some companies still pay tax eg banks and big retailers but also, taxable profits are taxed on distribution so deductions might end up being important, one day]
