While they have always had a list of Green/Amber/Red countries, what Jersey have now done is to regionalise (indeed localise ) it, at least for the UK, France and Ireland[1]. So if you come from Cheshire, you can go out after your negative test on arrival, but from Liverpool you have to isolate for five days and then have a second test. Though that presumably also means if you travel from Cheshire via Liverpool Airport you automatically become Amber. Because the UK was all Green before, what they are actually doing is tightening things up. [1] Some other European Islands (eg in the Canaries) are also separated out. They did have a few regional variations before (mainly for France), but this is the first time they have been so specific. Thailand, Vietnam, Philippines all imposing restrictions on movement between their jurisdictions. So how are people circumnavigating the system? All you need is a Manx NI number to qualify as a returning Manx resident so maybe give your MHK a nudge? Also I know a few who have had houses let for years and so have a Manx tax record as even though it’s basically passive rental income you get a current Manx tax allowance. Yes it should have been but at least it’s in now. And let’s face it nobody is going to fanny around with any of the extra silly rules after 7 days anyway. They’re just going to get a negative test and carry on doing what they need to do. They can’t police self isolation so they certainly won’t be policing if people have had a negative test and then go to the pub on day 8 or any of the other silly restrictions.
