slinkydevil
why do they have railings on it ? the original didn't, is it to be able to watch the duck race better (crucial design criteria !) I presume because it's quicker (cheaper) to install a railing than a drystone wall as previous.
2bees
False economy, steel is shite these days, it'll be rusty within no time. Speaking of which, minibee and me went to Douglas head for a dirty Maccy D's on Saturday, that Point building is a mess, do people live there? GD4ELI
False economy, steel is shite these days, it'll be rusty within no time. Not if it's done properly. Looking forward to seeing it...
BigDave
why do they have railings on it ? the original didn't, is it to be able to watch the duck race better (crucial design criteria !) The old bridge had railings on one side and a wall on the other, not that it matters what was there before.

sausage
It could, should and would pay for itself, if done well. Forgive me if I am being dense...but how do you think it would pay for itself ? Are they introducing a Laxey toll or will it be so beautiful that people will pay to come and view it ?
thebees
If it was a nice bridge people would come to see it, like they do the Laxey wheel and such.
Mr. Sausages
Not as many as came to look at the upside down bus.
Mr. Sausages
An upside down bus bridge would be best.

I'm sure the tourist board will be signing you up to write it's 2025 tourist bridge strategy. In 10 years time they could be the second biggest bridge spotting tourist resort in Europe. In fact in amongst all the other crap they've invested in that's probably one of the better ones.
Tweek
I like 1b, but would go for option 5a the 100ft granite statue of Rodan That's a bridge too far. Plus you'll need decent headlights. .

Lisenchuk
I vote for the most expensive option with bells, whistles, gilded steel work, resin encased upturned bus, titanium statue of Rodan and all that. We don't want to detract from the ongoing illusion that we're awash with money.
english zloty
Surely JCK should decide what they want to build.
