SleepyJoe
Because after massive price increases force a key production facility into closure, someone with the ability to act will belatedly produce a solution to a problem that has just gone post-critical? finlo
I suspect it will also be a death knell for Laxey flour mill.
Kopek
I think Laxey Mills use mostly Manx grown grain? Not affected by world price increases?

They lose money anyway and RB must be their biggest contract. Edited April 2, 2022 by Numbnuts

If the management there and the farmers who supply it had any sense they'd be growing and milling more wheat this year than ever before 2

Their product was always cited as expensive? Do they still post an annual loss too or have they turned it around?

The potential loss of two Manx institutions. I fear government will act too late, as they always do, and many more businesses will go to the wall. Amadeus
I often wondered how they managed to compete. Their bread was among the most expensive in the supermarket and seemingly relied on Buy Local goodwill. Next to it was cheap stuff from the UK for as little as 40p a loaf, when RB was 1.50 or more. Looked like a tough business to be in.

yorik
I'm sure I'd heard that M&S in-store bakery used RB dough. So further knock on there possibly
