UK Immigration changes = IOM Opportunity?

Keep the immigration rules as they are as messing about with things will only impact on those who are paying into the pot.

Those with certain professions given green light to jump ahead of the queue but lets keep the main language as English and if they can't speak it, then learn before they think of staying!

Stuff the 100k island occupancy goal as we can't even provide enough services for those here now.

The Isle of Man isn't able to overrule UK Home Office policy on immigration surely?

Indeed, we don't have our own immigration policy when it comes to anyone from outside the British Isles. If we did it would be a back door into the UK and immigration would be out of control...oh wait!

Oh dear angry billy bullshit has woken up again.

So the sock puppet does think care workers & nurses are a drain on resources. Typical, probably get one of his other sign ones to support his anti immigration views soon.

However, there will be 10,000s in the UK who no longer meet the threshold so will be looking for a plan b, which could involve looking here. In which case they will be ineligible for any financial support for 5 years. So could be a good job the homeless pipedream is to give EVERYONE a roof over their heads.

Nb. There is a huge loophole whereby immigrant workers to the UK joining health and social care don't have to meet the threshold, so a) they are unlikely to come here b) will be interesting to see how many vacancy are filled on a short-term basis to get round the rules.

Politicians rarely think of change in circumstance and yet in a social system model it is the greatest pitfall (see fast track FTB as the latest IoM example).

Or rather not indeed at all.  IoM has it's own Immigration Rules and in respect of workers etc - there are some fundamental differences to the UK equivalent routes.

sadly this UK decision will effect us badly  very few EU workers in the UK these days and tighter restrictions on overseas workers  will only lead to further recruitment problems , its a pity they haven't come up with a solution to illegals coming into the UK it must be costing an absolute fortune ,

With the UK increasing the required income to 38k, does it make the IOM more appealing or are we caught in the same basic framework? Anyone smarter than me able to elaborate how it affects the island?

Surely people can only enter the IOM having first cleared immigration in the UK?

More vitriol from Billy bullshit. Do you ever get fed up of posting angry bullshit on this forum just to try to start fights with posters? I’ve not said anything about carers or nurses. Just that anyone coming here and earning below a certain salary will be a net drain on finances that’s a fact regardless of any role. Then little Billy bullshit gets all angry when he himself seems to post enough angry abuse about teachers and teachers pay to fill at least three forums. You’re simply beyond parody.

Robert Jenrick has resigned as Minister of State for Immigration. Strong disagreements with new Rwanda Treaty Bill. He wants UK government to be able to override courts, ECHR, UN treaties, or disapply them at  will.

There must be enough hard right Tory rebels now to ensure the bill won’t pass the Commons.

( it would never have got through the Lords or passed judicial scrutiny  )

Failure to get that through has to be a resigning matter for Sunak. Will he delay it or push it forward lemming like.
